Automate Running Decisions

Hey, it's Jack! 👋 Let me give you a quick tour of the platform.

From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Flows, select Flows

Get to Flow

Click on New Flow

This will open a blank canvas for you to choose what criteria is met before the flow is executed

Choose your flow

Select Next

When you create a new Flow, you’re prompted to select the type of Flow you wish to create and then click Next.

Type of Flow

This is the criteria that will enable the flow to run. I have selected the Account object as that's where the data is stored.

Flow Triggers

Choose the object whose records trigger the flow when they're created, updated or deleted

Object selection

Choose when the flow will trigger from the available options

Set your triggers

Apex Actions will only trigger if the process runs aysnchronously

Run Asynchronously

Set your criteria to filter the records that the flow will select

Condition Requirements

Set the flow to run when a record is updated to meet the conditions

Updated Records

Click on Save

Add a description and click on Save

Name your Flow

This will allow you to add an Action element

Click the + button

For decisioning we need to assign values for the decision inputs

Variables are a used in Flow to store data temporarily for use later in the workflow, like text, numbers, or record ID's.

Set your Variables

From the Resource List select Variable

This should be the name of the Input field of your decision model

Select your data type

Select Apex Defined

Select Done

A key value pair is a set of two linked items: a key (name of input field) and a value (amount request), an example would be 'Sales Value (key) and 10,000 (value)'

Select the Variable field

Select the Value Pair

Set the API name Value for the input field. This needs to be the correct otherwise the action will fail.

You need to also add the Key Value Pair Value to the assignment

Select the existing Variable

In this example I'm using the Credit Limit from the Account that's running this flow. This can any field on the Account record or you can enter a value that will used each time e.g. 10,000

Repeat the Key Value Pairs steps and create them for the Tree Name and the Tree ID. The Tree ID value needs to be the Decision Models unique GUID

Add Another Assignment

Create a new collection variable

In this example it's called 'UserInputVar', which stands for User Input Variable

Name your Collection Variable

Select Variable Data Type

Check Multiple Values Collection

Check both input and output to true and then select Done

Output Availability

Set your operator as Add and then select 'Userinputvar' as the value from the Apex Defined Collection

Do the same for TreeIDPair and TreeNamePair

Repeat steps

Select + button from the canvas to add the Decision Action

From the list search for CS to find the available actions and choose 'Run Decision Action'

Pass the Salesforce ID. In this example I'm selecting the Triggering Account and then selecting the Account ID
